Save purchase and return conditions while you can still see them

Conditions are visible before you order and hard to reconstruct afterward. Copy the sentences that matter, note where you read them, and the later conversation starts from evidence instead of recollection.

Five things worth copying

Copy the sentence, not your summary of it. "Returns accepted within 14 days if tags are attached" is verifiable. "Easy returns" is a feeling.

One row per item is usually enough. If two items in the parcel come from different sellers, split them: policies do not travel between sellers, and a shared row creates false confidence.

Questions to ask the seller

Ask only what changes a decision. Four questions cover most of it: is the size chart in inches or centimeters; is the item you are shipping the exact unit photographed; what happens if the parcel arrives damaged; and does the return window start at dispatch or at delivery.

Keep the answer with the question and the date. A reply that arrives three days later still counts, but only if it lives in the same row as the condition it modifies.

If a policy page and a chat reply disagree, record both and treat the stricter one as the working assumption until the order is placed.

What this record cannot promise

This site cannot state that any platform supports a particular return, refund, or exchange service. Terms vary by seller, category, and country, and they change. What you can control is whether the wording you relied on is written down somewhere you can find it.

Two related records make the condition row more useful. The inspection photo checklist documents what the item looked like before it shipped, and the coupon conditions record captures whether a promotion changed the terms.

At the next review, mark conditions older than a season as stale and re-check the ones that still apply. The refresh routine describes a simple status label for exactly this.
