Record coupon conditions, not just coupon codes

A code is the least durable part of a promotion. The conditions decide whether it applies to your list at all, and they disappear from the page long before you notice.

Seven conditions worth copying

Whatever the promotion, the same seven fields appear: source, eligible category, minimum spend, discount type, expiry, usage limit, and exclusions. Record them in the sheet next to the items you intend to buy, not in a separate folder you will not open.

Example structure Field layout, with placeholder values
FieldWhat to writeExample value
SourceWhere you saw it, with a link or screenshot noteCampaign page, seen 2026-10-19
Eligible categoryCategory name exactly as writtensneakers
Minimum spendThreshold and currency$250.00 USD before shipping
Discount typePercent, fixed amount, or shippingFixed amount
ExpiryDate and time zone if stated2026-11-02, time zone not stated
Usage limitPer account, per order, or totalOne use per account
ExclusionsItems, brands, or conditions listed as excludedSale items excluded

Values in the example column are placeholders showing format, not an offer. If you cannot find the time zone of an expiry, write "not stated" rather than assuming midnight in your own state.

A condition checklist

Why codes are not published here

Specific codes, thresholds, and discount values change without notice, and a screenshot of a working code from six weeks ago is not evidence that it works now. This site does not list promo values it cannot verify against a current, attributable source.

What you can do is keep the verification trail: the page you read, the date, and the exact wording of the condition. If a discount fails at checkout, that trail is what lets you ask a specific question instead of describing a vague memory.

Never record a discount as money received until you see it applied. In the budget, a pending coupon belongs in the unconfirmed block, not in the items subtotal.

What a coupon does to your list

Coupons distort shopping lists in a predictable way: they make extra items look free. If a code requires $250 of spend and your verified rows total $210, the honest comparison is not "spend $40 more to save" — it is what those extra $40 buy, and whether you wanted them before the code appeared.

Keep the pre-discount total visible in its own column. The offer comparison method shows how to compute the post-discount figure without double-counting a shipping discount, and the budget structure keeps pending amounts out of the committed total.

Before ordering, re-read the exchange conditions on the discounted order. A purchase made under a promotion can carry different return terms, which is exactly what the purchase conditions record is for.
